Leadership/Governance Web Modules
In February 2007 the Australian Womensport and Recreation Asscociation (AWRA) conducted a national on-line survey of sporting organisations across Australia, looking at the issues that face girls and women in sport. Not surprising, one of the findings was that while women now make up almost half the number of active participants in organised sport they hold only 7% of leadership and governance positions.
AWRA wants to encourage the active participation of women in the administration of sport and recreation organisations. Committees and Boards need members/directors who, as well as being appropriately knowledgeable, can bring some balance in gender representation and gender considerartions to the board table. Participating on a Board requires specific skills and knowledge and these modules will help you get started.
In order to help increase the numbers of women in sports leadership and governance positions, AWRA has produced five web learning modules on leadership and governance. The web modules are available on this page for no cost.
