The International Platform on Sport & Development (the 'Platform') is a website entirely dedicated to the thematic field of sport & development. It was initiated after the first International Conference on Sport and Development was held in Magglingen, Switzerland in 2003. The site is managed by Swiss Academy for Development.
For the purposes of the Platform, sport is defined as:
all forms of physical activity that contribute to physical fitness, mental well- being and social interaction, such as play, recreation, organised or competitive sport, and indigenous sports and games (adapted definition given in the European Sports Charter).
Articles with regard to any issue related to 'sport and development' can be posted for free on this platform. Furthermore, there is an expert database (team players) which some of you, or people you know, might want to join.
Several relevant conferences receive a "special coverage" by the platform allowing people who couldn't make it to a conference physically (for budgetary or other reasons) to be actively involved in the discussions.
